Florida Poly to host 81st annual Florida Academy of Sciences gathering

WHAT: Florida Polytechnic University will host the Florida Academy of Sciences (FAS) 2017 Annual Conference at the University’s IST Building on March 10-11, 2017.

Attendees statewide will join Academy members to share their research, participate in multidisciplinary scientific exchanges and present a medal to a Florida resident who has contributed to the promotion of scientific research.

The two-day event will feature student presentations, competitions, sponsor company displays and a banquet dinner with the 2016 FAS medalist as speaker, Dr. George A. Maul from the Florida Institute of Technology. In addition, Florida Poly President Dr. Randy K. Avent will deliver the Gale plenary address on “The Future of STEM Education and Research”. 4:30-5:30 | Gale Plenary Lecture by Florida Poly President Dr. Randy K. Avent, IST Auditorium

5:30-7:30 | FAS Poster Session, IST First Floor

7:30-9:30 | FAS Banquet: Banquet Address and Medalist Presentation, IST Second Floor Saddle Creek Logistics Commons

Saturday, March 11 : 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. – Florida Junior Academy Sessions

10:00-1:00 | Concurrent Sessions, IST Building First Floor classrooms

1:00-2:30 | Lunch on your own, The Wellness Center (Cafeteria is open)

2:30-3:30 | Business Meeting immediately followed by Awards Ceremony, IST Commons

REGISTRATION: The onsite Registration Desk will be open Friday, March 10, 7:30 AM-3:30 PM. Participants and guests must register but do not need to be a member of the Academy to present a paper, poster, or attend the conference.
